Lightroom Classic: People View: Group photos imported at different times

I import photos from a weekly event that usually sees about 100 people.  Because of this I would say I know 3/4 of the group by name.  However, when someone new joins, it may be a couple weeks before I get their name.  What I've found with people view is that it only stacks folks in the folder they were originally imported in and that it doesn't look at previous folders for photos of that person. The only way I seem to be able to do it is to untag everyone and then re-collect faces on the images.  I'd rather not have to remove successful tags in order to better group previously untagged faces.

I hope this makes sense.  I've brought it up before and think my terminology got confused for a different type of feature request.

Hi Phil,

"What I've found with people view is that it only stacks folks in the folder they were originally imported in and that it doesn't look at previous folders for photos of that person."

LrClassic does look at faces from the entire catalog during face stacking. It is true that it gives some preferential treatment to faces imported during the same batch. By "same batch", it really means all photos in your current filmstrip source selection. So one workaround that you can employ is when you start face indexing your second batch, try making sure that the photos from your first import also included in your filmstrip selection. That might involve select multiple folders/collections that contains the most relevant photos. Hope this helps.

Simon, I have all the photos that I want indexed in the same folder structure and then sub-organized by year, then by week.

If I click on a particular week, sometimes it will and sometimes it won't update the suggestions for those people who remain unnamed. When I click by year, same behavior, may or may not make suggestions as to who people are. It seems like some entire folders / imports were ignored/not facial recognized.

If I run the "Similar Faces" feature, it will pull these images. However, the system seems to ignore them entirely as for "suggestions".

And then as I have mentioned in other posts, theres no way to know if the system is actively computing facial recognition matches.  I am happy to leave the program open. However right now it is only using 1% of CPU and 31% of RAM. It doesn't seem to be working on the unrecognized faces and updating suggestions at all.

I identified about 20 new people keywords yesterday, so I would be expecting it to be requerying and comparing the images to those keywords at least.  THere are 15,000+ images so I doubt the system has reviewed (or is reviewing) all the faces in those images (7756+ remaining unnamed with 66% only having "?" with no suggstion).
