Pentax raw file with pixel shift problem on lightroom

Somehow I found that both Lightroom series and camera raw cannot read The Pentax raw file with pixel shift resolution correctly, Here let me show 2 examples:
Pentax has given a resolution for solving "the moving object which is caught by camera's pixel shift resolution", moving object in these raw files will not be combine by 4 pictures, instead, it will be used only from the first picture.
however, if I use  Lightroom series and camera raw read those raw file , it will appears some strange mosaic like (only happens on moving object in raw file)

When I use other software to read the same raw file , no problem will be happen, like this
(I use photo review on mac, acdsee photo studio5 , capture one 12, even some simple raw file software like pixelmator, the result will be normal)

I hope adobe will give a resolution to deal with this problem soon, no other software will get this problem that makes me very confuse

Thank you

Sincerely

ACR, PS, and LR do not have the ability to process to handle movement in Pixel Shift processing. They give you the composited output only. The other programs you mentioned seem to do a near perfect job but really do not because they perform the normal demosiacing on the FIRST file of the four files and blindly output as if a Pixel Shift file. Only Pentax DCU and Rawtherapee have the ability to do Pixel Shift with movement compensation.

Hello Chambers

Thanks for your quick responding,  actually, I was the people who was cheated by those software because I was quite satisfy with the quality of those "fake pixel shift output", they did really sharper than one shot I've taken.

Pentax DCU is too slow and  bad performance  on macintosh( with my newest Mojave 10.14.4), cause me even doubt that why such a Inferior quality thing exist in this world ;(

Today I will try Rawtherapee, and I hope adobe can fix the problem (seems the following reply means that adobe cannot fix this problem because of some law and contract problem...? sorry with my terrible English)

I'm so appreciated for your responding, makes me feel that is what a global biggest software maker's attitude :)

Hope Adobe series can be better and better, I will continue use your product and recommend it to my friends. \\\\٩( 'ω' )و ////

Also.. Do not blame much on the software people for this lack of usable apps. I think that Pentax now Ricoh for not sharing the information to other than Silky Pixels. In truth Adobe really gets the short end of the stick. Adobe really gets little or no support from the camera companies with ACR etc. We all want lense corrections but Adobe has to work with users not manufacturers to provide most if not all of them. The glass people still do not want digital to drive their business. They will see as others take the business.

Users beware!

Not so sure... Pentax has the ability to shoot .dng and have the reputation to be rather open minded. It's just a feeling, but if adobe wanted to support it, they'd support it.

Pentax uses the published DNG format but doesn't publish anything about about the information in their makers header. That's the information that automates processing of the file. All of the manufacturers (makers) are terrible with documentation. Adobe is not guilty of bugs involving PixelShift but made a decision to not support pixel shift with movement when it was Pentax only. Now Sony is into PixelShift it will likely change. Adobe's early decision on Pixel shift is very different from the bugs recently in LR and PS which have cost users their time.

Am so fed up with LR classic I am ready to dump it. This my bizzy season starting for Carnival here in Toronto and no way I can put up with the slow, buggy nonsense I am experiencing now. I am Pentax K1 shooter.

LR is just not ready for the big times and we keep paying Adobe salaries each month for what again?

Adobe has quietly added support for Sony's .ARQ Pixel Shift files to Lightroom

https://www.google.co.jp/amp/s/www.dp...

When I watched this news suddenly I recognised that as one of a small camera maker’s user (Pentax user), it’s really weak and feeling helpless....

When sony announced their pixel shift , adobe response so quickly, however we struggle 8 years still Pentax pixel shift have some problems...

There's only notes for the Pentax K1 II and K3 II. The Pentax K1 II has notes regarding pixel-shift support/compatibility and the K3 II has notes regarding HDR support/compatibility.

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html#Dynamic_Pixel_Shift_Resolution

Regarding Adobe, Pentax, Sony....

The Pentax K1 II was released after the Sony A7RIII. The Pentax was announced at the end of February 2018 and shipped in April, whereas the Sony was announced at the end of October 2017 and shipping in November.

Rikk,

There is no documentation for what is done in Adobe Pixel Shift processing.  In previous discussions, we were told that Adobe would not build specialized code for one camera type.  No changes have occured as I use ACR/PS for my Pixel Shift data (mostly acquired indoors on a table).  Movement does continue related to weather and traffic.   I supplied data with movement previously but it also had a color problem too.  Color problem was fixed as it affected all Pentax Pixel Shift compositing.

Hello Flohr

I have upload 2 files to you (via mail drop) , you can check if you can receive them, moving object‘s problem will appear as you zoom in the file.

Normally they are pink or green mosaic ,and if you try to output (transform DNG to any other format like JPEG,TIFF,PNG), the problem will be happen 100%. :(

I hope Adobe will fix this problem ASAP

We love shoot, and Lightroom will be always my favourite  software, as all Pentax users hope this problem can be solved.

Thank you sincerely
