Photoshop: How do I Paste into a Video layer from Clipboard?

When you create a video layer and go to an empty frame, you can paste something into it. But if you draw something into it and even then erase it and then try to paste again, you can't paste into it anymore - instead, Photoshop creates a new layer for the pasted graphics.

How to paste into a Video layer frame that's already been "contaminated"? Any tips? You can circumvent this with a normal layer by merging the layer with the layer above, but you obviously can't do this with a video layer.

I experience the same problem. But there is a workaround.
I'm not sure if this is the only solution but at least it works for me.

1.Copy the content from the specific frame by drawing a selection around it and choose copy from the edit menu
2. create a new blank videolayer from the layer menu and make sure it is on top of the layer that you copied the content from
3. paste the copied content into the desired frame of the new blank videolayer. (edit->paste special->paste in place
4. select the new blank videolayer in the layer window and choose "merge down" in the top right menu of the layers window

If you just choose merge layers, it won't work. your layers become normal layers.

not quiet as elegant as it could be, but it works.

Hope this helps.

For people STILL looking for a way to make this work I just figured out a much more minimal workaround.

Photoshop lets you paste into the video layer if you're pasting into frames BEFORE one that has content on it. So, a simple fix is to go to the end of your video layer/outside the time you plan to export, and draw on that frame. Then you should be able to paste into any earlier frame on the video layer. This works in CS6.
