Photoshop: Pasting text into layer name preserves returns

If you copy text from a text manual returns in it, and paste this text into a layer name, it preserves the returns, so the layer name spans multiple lines. Works both on text from photoshop text layers or any other source.

Hi Philip, I'm not following you. If I paste two lines of text, for example:

My Great 
Layer Name

... and paste that into a layer name it always gets collapsed into a single line: "My Great Layer Name"

Is this not what you are expecting? Can you provide a screenshot of what you're seeing and what you're expecting?

I can provide a screenshot. Most interesting. Never pasted text into a layer name, unless it was a short name already on a layer. But it does indeed paste the returns. Copied from Notes:
