Photoshop: Paste Command not working in Ps CS4 from Illustrator CS4

I have created a drawing in Illustrator CS4 using the pencil tool and added a stroke to it.
I hit copy. It WILL paste to a new later in Illustrator if I try.
However, I need to paste it into Photoshop.
When I go into Photoshop the paste command will not highlight for this copied Illustrator item. I will however work for other things I may want to copy and paste. I did purge the clipboard just in case it had anything to do with the problem.
Can you help me figure out what is going wrong on such a simply maneuver?
Thanks so very much.

Note: the item will not drag out of Illustrator either.

Check the preferences in AI CS4 -- there is a section on the clipboard and what should be exported. Make sure that PDF and AICB are both enabled.

Already done before I put my question into you at Photoshop.

Is there any way this could have something to do with the graphics cards? I already have an ongoing issue with the graphics cards possibly not having the most recent driver updates because HP wants to be the only one to give me those updates and ya'all say theirs are usually a year behind - that apparently may be causing my spacebar not to be able to move a marquee - we spoke about that about 3 weeks ago. (Okay, I know, very long run on sentence!)

Not likely to be the graphics card. More likely something else is messing with the clipboard data or events -- like a bug in a third party plugin, or some external application (like JDownloader).
