PHOTOSHOP CS6: panels and buttons not responding

when quick switching to photoshop using command+tab on a mac, none of the panels, buttons or menus in photoshop will respond. Only way to get photoshop to respond is through keyboard shortcuts or by switching to another program and clicking on photoshop in the dock instead. Happens consistently and is completely repeatable.

I am using Photoshop Extended 13.0.6 x64 on OSX Mavericks 10.9.5, iMac 2.5GHz quad core i5 with 4GB ram. I don't have any extra extensions or plugins installed beyond what comes with photoshop. Frustrating because this has persisted for me through several updates....

Actually, I think I have installed the fix for the blank/white panels bug that is fairly common. It didn't seem to help this problem however (and I never had the white panel bug).

For CS6, the WhiteWindowWorkaround plugin would help a lot in avoiding some of the known MacOS 10.9 bugs.
