To enable automatic selection of layers making it an outline of the object to hover over him, as it was in Fireworks, facilitates the identification of the object.

This outline should appear without clicking, and clicking it selects the object layer

Do you have any idea how much this would flicker, and how much it would slow down mouse movement because of the overhead of tracking the outline for every layer every single time you move the mouse?
We tested this idea at one point - and it was really, really, horrifically bad.

For projects large layouts websites that need a quick edit, layered look is very inconvenient, especially for third-party projects in which the layers are not organized. In Adobe Fireworks program this function works perfectly without crashes and slowdowns. Only the outline of the layer appear and select it in the layers tab when clicked would slow Photoshop?
