Lightroom 5: OS X 10.8.5 low resolution, very slow refresh

After installing the OS X 10.8.5 update on my 27" iMac, i7 3.4 Ghz, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX moving 1:1 images on the screen in Lightroom 5 and 5.2 results in very low resolution to those areas coming into view and takes as long as two seconds to snap back into full resolution. Not only that but when the new area being viewed snaps into full resolution there is a shift in alignment with the nearby area that was already in full resolution before it aligns properly. This is awful.

Again, this is happening with Lightroom version 5 and 5.2. I did not experience this issue with OS X 10.8.3.
