Elements: Questions about using Organizer vs. iPhoto

I imported all my iPhoto pictures into the Photoshop Elements Organizer before I realized that I could just use the Editor to edit my iPhoto pictures and have them save automatically. (I'd rather do it that way, as I have my iPhone pics sync through iCloud and everything is already organized into events.)

Do I now have all the photo files saved doubly on my computer? I don't want to take up the disk space if it's not necessary, but I also don't want to delete anything from the Organizer application and have it somehow accidentally delete permanently from my computer.

I have the same problem too .... my understanding was Elements organizer will not duplicate my iPhoto library, instead it will only save versions of my edited copies.

is there a way where I can import my iPhoto library without duplicating the actual pics and videos? I rather maintain one master copy in iPhoto for the same reason as iCloud and iPhone sync.
