How are you applying the date range? Are you using timeline or some other way?

The date range search should not clear by itself until you apply any other search2 (let say album search) and then come out of that search2.

Please point out the step after which your date range search clears.

Clear all 'filters' so that all photos are showing. Set date range for the current year (2013-01-01 to 2013-12-31). That works just fine. Now click to see 3-star and above. That (seems to) filter the 2013 files as desired. Now change 3-star to 4-star. The date range has been cleared and *all* 4-star files are shown. Same thing if you set date range and drag a person-icon. It filters correctly. Now select any star-value. Date reset. Instead, add another person-icon. It appears to filter correctly. Now remove that person. Date is reset.
I want to be able to set a date range (e.g. this year) and work with only those photos.

I just realized I am using version 8 (thought it was 10). Can you say that this is fixed in a more current version?

The (my) desired operation is that the date range stays set until manually cleared by me, or until I take some action that must reset the date range in order to work correctly. As an example of the latter, if I have set the date range for 2013 and I click to open an album that has photos from another year.

Note that if I use a keyword tag that is not found in the date range selected, then it should *not* look outside that date range.
I just tried this: select 2012 year, drag person-tag that is not in that range, program shows no photos. Correct! However, I remove that person from the filter bar - and the date range cleared!
I repeated the above, except instead of removing that person I dragged another person into the search filter. The date cleared! and I was shown all photos containing both persons.

Even if you think this date-range-clearing problem has been fixed in the current version, I think it deserves some detailed testing of all the various search filter operations that can be made to be sure that they all work!

Search for person-tag. FInds all.
Then set date range. The result set is reduced to that date range (correct).
Now click on the Show All button. The person-tag is removed and it shows only the date range (as I expected).
However ...
Now drag that same (or any) keyword-tag back to the search/filter bar.
It restricts the view to that person in the date range as above.
Now click the Show All button.
The keyword *AND* date range are cleared and all photos are shown.

You must have a spec for this (I hope). Does it cover all these cases? What has priority and when?

Note that when a date range is selected, there is no 'date-range' icon or indication shown in the search/filter bar, just keyword tags and stars. Therefore (IMHO) the date range should not be cleared by any action taken on the search/filter bar, e.g. when a keyword-tag is removed, when the star-level is changed, or when the Show All button is clicked. Date Range should be an independent filter, which should be able to be set and removed w/o affecting or being affected by keyword-tags or star-levels.
