Photoshop: Option for Levels/Curves color picker behavior similar to white balance in ACR

Please add an option to the white point pickers inside of Levels and Curves so we can click on any color we want to end up being neutral, but without remapping that color to 100% in the same process. Right now if I click somewhere in the highlights, that shade of brightness is automatically going to clip instead of only adjusting the white point to make the color I clicked neutral. (Same problem for the black point of course).

Sorry if that sounds confusing, but what I mean is basically something like the white balance picker inside Camera Raw which neutralizes color casts, but leaves the luminance component of the white point alone.

The gray point picker currently found inside of Levels and Curves, while very useful, is different from what I am asking since it affects the gamma and not the white point/black point.
