Option to end filmstrip at sidebar

I would like to see the option to end the filmstrip right where either of the side tool panes start. In other words, when either side tool pane is visible the filmstrip would not eclipse the bottom of it.

I appreciate the "hovering to unhide" to a certain extent, but it is often a pain trying to move quickly without accidentally hovering off the panel. We have much more horizontal space, especially with today's wider screens, and I would like to have more of my vertical space available to my side tool panes without losing the static view of the film strip. On my big screens, not a huge deal, but on my travel laptop it would be great to be able to see the entire "Basic" section of the toolbar at a glance, and the filmstrip ... without hovering over either.

I like this idea. Why not?

Personally I would like to see an option to place the film strip vertically on either side. Because more and more screens are 'panoramic', that would make more sense to me than a film strip taking space at the bottom of the screen.

Good ideas here. I rarely use the filmstrip because it takes too much screen space better used for editing or culling.
