LIGHTROOM - Option to disable video caching

it would be good to have a preference option to DISABLE video caching.
Video caching is currently out of control, and totally unwanted, in some cases. We should still be able to see video thumbs, but it should optionally NOT cache in
Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Video/Media cache

Currently it is out of control: it eats 180 GB of my small SSD disk, even if the videos files are on external drive. When I purge cache, and when I simply browse in a folder where there are some videos, it re-cache them again, sending CPU and Fan noise to the roof, slows down computer. Experience is really NOT pleasant using LR.

Absolutely agree!  Since Lightroom isn't designed for video in the first place, it would be great to have the option to ignore all files that are not image files that can be manipulated in Lightroom.

What happens if you make the video cache folder 'read only' - after deleting the contents. I do this with the acr cache that LR uses. It stops LR writing any more files to that folder.
