Photoshop: not seeing some fonts on Windows

Photoshop should read my Windows font folder but it doesn't. For example, the Harrington font that windows uses is true type and includes bold, italic, underlined and so on. Photoshop just has Harrrington Opentype regular. I can't even figure out where photoshop is keeping this font. I can't find the font in a search. Any ideas?

Photoshop does read all fonts that the OS knows about, but will reject fonts that it finds are corrupt.

Are you seeing the font styles in another application (that may be faking them), or in actual font files?

And which version of Photoshop are you using?

CS6. All the office applications correctly see the windows font folder which has a mix of truetype and opentype fonts. In that folder, there is a truetype Harrington font but NO opentype Harrington font. And yet all that I get from Photoshop is a Harrington opentype regular--no options for bold. Where is Photoshop getting this and why doesn't photoshop see what's really there?

f.y.i. what a pain in the a. logging into this website is and making the dumb reply burtton work!!!

Again, Photoshop gets the fonts that the OS knows about, plus a few that are installed by Adobe in the Adobe support folder. Since I don't think that Adobe includes a Harrington font, that means that the font is installed somewhere that your OS knows about.

If the OS doesn't have a font correctly installed, or if the font is corrupt - then Photoshop won't list it.

And if you're dealing with fonts that use a different script/language, they will be sorted on the font list by script (most will be below the English/Roman fonts).

Well, I wonder if I correctly understand the implication of your words. Apparently, Adobe includes fonts! So tell me, where does Adobe store these fonts? Apparently the Adobe provided fonts over-ride conflicts with windows fonts-- i.e. opentype get's precedence over truetype. I would very much like to delete Adobe's store of fonts.

And will somebody plz FIX THIS WEBSITE! How many times does a person have to login in!!!

The Adobe fonts do not override any system fonts.

Hi.

Have you tried our Font Test Script (Troubleshoot fonts/ Solution 5)?
