I recently upgraded my Mac fro iPhoto 9 to iPhoto 11 and now I can't open a photo in PSE 8 by double clicking on the photo. The instructions provided in kb403605 don't work as the screen that opens (General) after opening iPhoto and choosing iPhoto > Preferences is not the same as with iPhoto 9. If I click on the Advanced tab, I see that I'm set to open PSE as normal, but it's not working. Is iPhoto 11 compatible with PSE 8 relative to opening a photo in PSE? The process I've evolved is positively painful!

I assume you are double clicking from within iPhoto? Not the finder.

I have iPhoto 11 too. Here is the screen shots of where the preference lives in iPhoto 11 as well as screen shots on how to open in external editor. I have Photoshop but the same should hold true for Elements.

Either you need to right click on the file and choose edit in external editor or click on the edit button in iPhoto.

It appears that the simple double click to open in PS or PSE is gone in iPhoto 11. It now requires an extra or maybe just a different way to get to external editor.

Been there - done that. Unfortunately I've been told by Adobe that iPHOTO 11 is not compatible with PSE 8. I have a tendancy to believe it as whenever my wife tried to bring up a photo in PSE 8 from iPHOTO 11, multiple copies would magically appear.

I'm not a happy camper. Apple won't let us go retro to iPhoto 9 and Adobe won't support PSE 8 on iPhoto 11. I think my only option is to "upgrade" to PSE 10.
