Opening A7R IV RAW files

There are some A7R IV RAW files floating around.

I've had to use something called Affinity Photo to open them. Lightroom Classic won't open the files.

Last time during the A7R II to III upgrade it took Lightroom a long time to update the software.

How is it that Affinity can do this now, but not Lightroom, and can Lightroom move faster this time and not leave customers stranded once the camera comes out in September?

Thanks.

Adobe never comments on future developments, so I’m afraid you won’t get an answer as to when Lightroom/ACR will support this camera.

Thanks Johan. I was hoping for something like, "We acknowledge we screwed up last time and will do better this time."

I'm not sure how you are stranded, Sony has free software to open and process its RAW files. A compatible version should ship with the new camera and Capture One will presumably also get an update.

Hi David. Well, if I liked those options, I guess I wouldn't be a Lightroom customer.

And as a paying customer of a product produced by a $150 billion market cap company (Adobe), I think it's fair to expect them to be at the forefront.
