Lightroom: Open Multiple Library Catalogs

I have a suggestion for Lightroom. It would be really beneficially to be able to have multiple catalogs open at the same time, rather than closing and opening single catalogs.

My main Archive Catalog is huge and I started an Active Jobs Catalog so I can focus on just the work that's pending. Once the job is delivered, I import the Active Jobs Catalog to the Archive Catalog, and then remove the completed jobs from the Active Catalog.

Every so often, I'm working in the Active Jobs Catalog and I'll need something from the Archive Catalog, but don't want to close the Active Jobs Catalog.

To hack this a little, I installed a second copy of Lightroom on a different drive and run two instances of Lightroom at the same time. Not ideal, but it works. It would be much nicer just to have two (or more) catalogs open at the same time in one version of Lightroom.

It's not something for everyone, but for commercial photographers like me, it would be really helpful. I could also see this as a benefit to wedding photographers or photojournalists who might want different catalogs for different years, yet be able to access them at the same time.

Yes, you can have 2 copies of lightroom open simultaneously per the link above or you c an hold down control on a PC when you click on lightroom to start it. The problem is that by doing this I lost many of my settings such as recent catalogs and some export plugins. Adobe, please make lightroom more robust to handle this more gracefully!

My need for this is that I keep weddings in separate catalogs from my misc. jobs and I'd like to be ale to export jpegs from a weddings (takes a long time) while editing in the other catalog.
