Howdy Anthony,

Sounds like a problem with your video card.  You may need to reach out to the manufacturer to get a newer driver.  What Operating System are you running?  Which version of Photoshop?  And if you click Preferences > Performance, what do you see under Graphics Processor Settings on the upper right of the dialog?

Thanks,
David

Not the video card. It was happening only in Photoshop. Reset Photoshops Prefs. & it fixed the problem. But thanks for the guess.

Resetting preferences probably just turned off GPU acceleration on your system.

The video card driver is pretty much the only thing that could fail to draw the image in Photoshop - and we have seen bugs in video card drivers cause images to display as black (or as corrupt blocks) many times before, especially on Windows. This is usually solved by updating the video card driver from the GPU maker's website (not the OS vendor or system builder).
