Can I delete photos in iPhoto once they have been uploaded to the Revel cloud (to free up memory on my laptop)?

Hi Tammi,

I think iPhoto stores images locally in its own library. Adobe Revel accesses your photos through the internet but also has an option for saving copies locally too (which is on by default, Keep Originals). Adobe Revel is not really intended to be used as a backup solution but the original photo is retained when you upload to the cloud service built into Revel. If you delete the original through iPhoto the image will no longer be available in that app (kinda goes without saying). Another option for saving space would be to turn off the Keep Originals option in Revel on the mac laptop.

Thanks Dave. So if I delete the file from iphoto to save space on my computer, is a full-size version still available in Revel?

Yes, if your photos imported into Revel have completed upload to the Revel cloud, later enabling Keep Originals on your Mac will allow all the original images to sync back down to your laptop when you want them.

If I keep the photos in iPhoto, can I turn off the "Keep All Originals" option in Revel to prevent duplicate copies of the photos being stored on my local Mac hard disk?

and don't forget, photos in PhotoStream are those stored at iCloud...which is NOT on your iPhone/iPad

@scott, yes you can. However, on the mac, by default Revel will keep local copies of anything you import. It just won't download any photos that have been uploaded from your phone or tablet.
