Lightroom: Odd behavior when navigating in Library Loupe

I just imported in 78 photographs. All images were imported, all are there and valid files in sequence order.

Two issues:

1) On the film strip I select the first image: xxx-7408.cr2
2) On the Loupe I click "Select Next Photo" arrow.
3) The Loupe & filmstrip update and show xxx-7411.cr2 ( what? what happened to 7409, 7410?)
4) I click "Select Next Photo" arrow again. Instead of going to 7412 or other images. It goes back to 7408?
5) It's a loop between these two images.

What is the actual order of image as seen in the filmstrip?

Do you have any videos?

Are you renaming these images on import via a renaming preset? i.e., is "7411" created by the camera? If so, did xxx-7409.cr2 actually exist on the camera?

Even so, I suspect that both Lr and most cameras will number files in a manner that guarantees uniqueness and ordering (for that session) but not necessarily guarantee each number os increased only by one. There are situations that can arise that make the easiest thing to do to skip a number, maintaining the monotonic increase.

The order is "Date Created" 7408, 7409, 7410, 7411 ...

I don't have any videos.

xxx is renamed "sunset". When I import I do a Custom rename of my name + original counter.

It sounds like you might have just 7408 and 7412 selected - try selecting just one photo in the filmstrip.

Nope. Restarting didn't help. I had to optimize the database to get rid of it.
