Numbered Layers In Photoshop

Would be great if Photoshop would auto number layers and have this shown as an option in the layer preferences. It would help with organization of layers without having to name them. Of course, it's still a good practice to name them, but having the number options gives users an additional reference of finding an organizing.

I noticed a post or two about having the ability to search layers within a project. I think this numbering of layers deal could help usher that in.

In my example, a top level folder would always be bolded and have the whole number. Subsequent folders would break down into sub-steps (such as 1-1, 1-1-a, etc). I would be able to remember that "hey, I always place custom shapes in the 1 folder level. I'd be able to tell someone which number to reference to find something vs labeling layers.

If a user moves a layer or folder in or out of a folder, then the layers palette should update all layers and folders within the palette with the corresponding number.
