Shooting with a Nikon D3000 and setting to shot in RAW only (NOT set to save as both). Some of the photos are showing up in my Lightroom CC as JPG

Looks like I'm unfamiliar with making the photo smaller in size using a MAC? To meet the 2MB limit.

Looks like you have an older version installed. 1.4 is current for Lightroom CC. I would recommend upgrading and see if the issue is still presenting for you.

I downloaded the newest version and now the photos that showed up as JPG don't even show what they are. Or they only do under file name. Lightroom CC under all photos is only showing that I have one photo out of 66 that are RAW. I have to be honest this is a huge frustration as I know my camera is set to RAW.. Please help?

Could you post a screenshot? Maybe this is just a matter of misunderstanding certain info.

Cj Juan,

Let's do a test: If you shoot some new raw images and attempt a new import do the images import as raws? Jpegs? A mix?

Exactly. That JPEG was created by some other software, otherwise it would not have a different name. And what application is the first screenshot? It’s not Lightroom and it’s not the Finder either, so how do you import the images from the camera/memory card to the computer? It looks like you use something else to import the raw file, export a jpeg from that software, that you then import into Lightroom...

First-I have to use the SD card and transfer to laptop.
The first screenshot is from MAC photos, with the info box open. I had to use preview to make the photo smaller to meet the 2MB limit. When I can I try to upload directly from SD card to Lightroom CC.

What I don’t understand is why some will upload JPG and some RAW. I took about 100 photos today and still get the same results with the new update.

I wonder if the MAC photos is changing it? Maybe a setting?

That has to be what is happening. Not even Photoshop can write changes to raw images. Once the image has been opened in Photoshop even, the edited results must be saved in a different file format.

Don't first transfer to laptop. Plug in the camera or card reader, cancel any dialogs that pop up for Photos, and go straight to Lightroom and add them direct from the card.

You should not use Apple Photos to import the images from the camera. Lightroom can do that just fine, and Photos indeed ‘swallows’ the image up in its library, so you are importing exported jpeg copies in Lightroom instead of otiginals. Disable the option that Photos starts when you insert a memory card.
