Lightroom: Unable to import panoramas from Samsung Galaxy S7, S8, S9

I try to import several pictures taken on my phone, copied to my computer into Lightroom (Version 2015.7 Win 10), but Lightroom has problems to read panorama photos. I think the phone puts additional information into the photo to be able to show how its taken in addition to the full panorama. When open in IrfanView, it shows up and when saved with IrfanView it can be imported without problems. But the file is much smaller than before. If I try to import the same photo in Lightroom Mobile (LR Android v. 2.1.2 | Android Version 6.0.1) on the phone it can also not be imported. This problem might show up with other panoramas taken by phones too.
I will add a link to a example file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By4hNskvpPLNRlZoN0dBSkFKT2c/view?usp=sharing

The phone is generating panoramas that don't conform to the JPEG standard.  Many programs other than LR can't read the panoramas.  You should send feedback to Samsung about it.

The workaround is to open and resave the panoramas in a program that can read them.  See this thread for details: Re: I can`t open panorama photos from my samsung s7

I am also having this issue with S9. You can open Panorama with Samsung gallery and re-save it from there. You have to "do something" to make save button active. I am using crop tool without actually cropping anything but I can save the picture then and Lightroom imports it after.

Persisting issue is that every launch of Lightroom CC app with start with import error message as it tries to import original panorama over and over again.

This problem was identified in the Samsung S7 three years ago, and people have reported the same issue with the S8 and S9:

Samsung still hasn't fixed the bug in its panorama software. It doesn't conform to long-established, well-documented industry standards that nearly every camera manufacturer and software developer have gotten right for two decades.

Another report for the S9: https://forums.adobe.com/message/11027536#11027536

Given the popularity of the Samsung phones, perhaps the LR team can communicate directly with Samsung about this long-standing issue with the nonconformity of panoramas produced by the Galaxy phones.  They apparently don't have any way for mere consumers to provide feedback.

Also, note that later versions of the Samsung panorama app (e.g. in the S8 and S9) have different nonconformities than the S7 app.  The S9 app is forgetting the EOI marker at the end: https://forums.adobe.com/message/10945674#10945674
