Photoshop: tools for working with 3D normal maps

would be nice to have a normal map style.
alternately, give layers the ability to have 2 bevel&emboss styles.
this would speed up normal map painting immensely.

something akin to Ndo, but applied to a layer as a "style" effect instead, and can adjust the border thickness like bevel and emboss:

OK, that's not a style - that's a bunch of tools for working with 3D normal maps (and associated maps used by some 3D renderers).

the problem here is i need 4 layer groups to create this effect, and apply a layer effect to each group. instead i should only have to do this to a single layer, which would make my normal map a whole lot more organized.
