In versions prior to CS6, there was a color swatch in the Layer panel for shapes. This was extremely helpful to identify and manipulate shape layer elements quickly.

That is no longer possible since a shape layer can have 2 color fills (fill and stroke) in CS6.

This is poor design. The new stroke option doesn't preclude the old functionality. I realize I may not be able to control the two items on the layer panel, but that's no reason to give us zero control.

Not only was this visually useful in identifying layers as I mentioned above. But, it was also functionally useful as the fill control was located next to the layer object which you must click to alter the shape properties anyway.

As is, I now have to click the shape layer which is typically in the lower right of my display, then mouse over to the opposite corner of the display to actually change the color. This may not seem like much of an issue, however for professionals who tend to have large displays, 24 inches and up, and whom work in Photoshop all day, mousing between the far extents of the display grows tiresome.
