Lightroom: Can't import images into Lightroom 3.3 and 3.4

Since update to Lightroom 3.3 Mac I cannot import any pictures. Not from the Canon 7D not from others, also no import from SD cards and desktop folders.

Installation of older version and time mashine reset back to 3.2 did not help.

After trying import from the camera it says pictures cannot be read (even if I can see the preview). Afer import from desktop folders the message is files cannot be copied.
Viele Grüße J

Hi Julius, can you check a couple of things for us, to narrow down the problem?

1. Go to File menu > New Catalog, create a temporary test catalog somewhere (i.e. desktop) and try importing a few photos into it?

2. Try using the 'ADD' option in the import dialog to import from a desktop folder. We just need to clarify whether it's a problem copying to a new location, or whether it's a problem actually reading them.

Hi Victoria,
Great! It is not the Lightroom version, it is the catalog. I have tried several new catalogs, but not every was doing it. On the desktop or in documents it was OK, a new catalog in the pictures directory (like my old one) doesn't.
Thank you very much! Best regards from Germany J

Very odd Julius. If you move the one from your pictures directory to another location, does it work? It'd just be worth confirming whether it's a problem at the location (i.e. some kind of permissions problem) or specific to that catalog.

If it's specific to that catalog, you could try selecting all and exporting it to a new catalog - that'll create a new catalog with all of the same data, but often leaves the cruft behind, which can clear out odd problems.
