When I control click on a folder in Collections the option to set it as the Target Collection is not in the pop-up window.  How do I get this option to appear?  I am using Lightroom 6 stand alone version, have installed the latest update and am running it on an iMac.

You can't set a collection set (what you called a "folder") as the target collection.  You can only set regular collections as the target collection (i.e. no smart collections).

Since you can't add photos to a collection set, only a collection, it makes sense that you can't designate a collection set as the target collection.

Victory!!   I am new to Lightroom and although I found out that a collection set could not be set as a target I also did not know what the little circle on the on the bottom of the folder Icon (not the Collection Set icon) was until this morning.  The little circle means it is a smart collection and can not be set as a target either.  I have been viewing Lightroom videos on YouTube but to this point in time have yet to see one which is a complete guide to Collections.  In any event I want to thank you very much for your response because it did help me discover the error of my ways.  Steve
