Elements 14: Organizer - No media available - clear applied filters.....?

I was working in the people room on face recognition and suddenly I got a message that there was "no media available. Please clear applied filter and try again". I can NOT find any applied filters and no matter where I go in the organizer, I get the same message. What has happened to my 20,000+ photos and how do I fix this? I've seen similar questions, but no answers that help me.

Did you ever solve this problem?  I see  photos are in the catalog but when I go to organize them I get the same message 'no media available. Clear applied filters and try again.'

Could it possibly be that the phots i have are in the Windows PHoto program?

Am working in elements 14 basic not Premiere.

The photos are never in the organizer; they are on your drive where you imported them (you specified a folder or there is one by default in your edit >> preferences menu). They are not in the Windows Photo either, nor are they in the Windows explorer. Those softwares are just 'browsing' your drive; for the organizer, the catalog stores a link to the real path of the files imported in the current catalog, and it can display them like the Explorer.
The 'filter' in the message means that one of the selection criteria is active, for instance:
- the menu View >> Media types (is the 'photo' media ticked?)
- Do you see an 'All media' text in a left pointing box just over the thumbnail space on the left? Then click on it until you can see 'All media' on the middle of the title bar instead of on the left.
