Photoshop: Why can't I get Oil Paint Filter to work on MacOS 10.11.3 with NV GT120 card?

I have read multiple conversations on here regarding issues getting the Photoshop Oil Paint Filter to work. I have made sure I am working in RGB and updated my graphics card driver and restarted the computer with still no luck. I am unable to go to preferences >performance>advanced settings>OpenCL because OpenCL stays greyed out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, Oil Paint will not run on that GPU/video card.  That specific card has caused so many problems for Photoshop users that we haven't officially supported it in quite some time.

Upgrading to something like the Radeon 7950 (Mac Edition) would certainly work in your existing system without you having to buy a new computer.

The list of tested and officially supported video cards/GPUs can be found here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cc-gpu-card-faq.html

Thanks,
