Hi

According to Lightroom 5.3 and / or Adobe Camera Raw 8.3, I should be able to work with Nikon Coolpix P7800 files.

Neither Lightroom, Photoshop CC or Bridge CC recognises this file??

Please help?

I am able to open NRWs from the P7800 in PS-CC/ACR8.3 that I downloaded from this page:
http://www.photographyblog.com/review...

I specifically tried the high ISO NRW with the blue awning from the middle of the last row just above the Sample Movie section. It downloaded as a .TIFF file and I had to rename it to .NRW, but it opened fine.

If you've used an older Nikon Transfer or View NX to transfer the files, then they are likely corrupted--or at least metadata has been changed to make them unrecognizable to Adobe programs. You should test by moving images from the memory card to your hard-drive using an OS-level function like Finder or Explorer.

There is a utility on the following page that will fix corrupted NEFs, but I don't know if it works on NRWs:

Hi Steve

Many thanks for responding.
I tried importing into Lightroom 5.3 directly from my card reader like I do many times every day from Nikon D3, Nikon D4 files. I didn't use any Nikon software, in fact, I don't even have those installed....

Try the file I tried from the website to see if it is something with your camera/computer vs LR/ACR.

Upload a troublesome NRW to www.dropbox.com and post a download link, here, to let others see if the file works for them. Since the camera is newly supported, perhaps there are some options or format variations or firmware versions that aren't supported and Adobe needs to know so they can fix it.

Or it could be that the files were corrupted somewhere in the transfer process.

Does the camera have multiple USB-connection settings and it's not set right?

I have downloaded some of the NRW test files and they all work without fail. My guess, there is something wrong with the camera. I have flicked the files to several of my contacts and all have the same problem...

Try putting one of the downloaded files on the camera's memory card and see if it works. That would help test whether it is the transfer or the camera.

OK, I shot a few more NRW, some fine jpg's and I copied the downloaded file onto the card too. Everything imports ok, BUT NOT the extra NRW images I shot. It imported the downloaded file as well, no problem.

PS> I checked firmware, there are no updates available. I think more and more that it is a camera fault. Otherwise there would be more about it on the internet. I just can't find anything like this problem....

You can use the following website to check things like firmware version and camera model and file dimensions and any file-format variation:
http://regex.info/cgi-exif/

Analyze a downloaded NRW in one browser tab then use a second instance of the website to analyze one of your non-functioning NRWs files in another tab.

Scroll each results list to the same position and click back and forth between the two tabs to see what might be different, other than filename, timestamp and other shot parameters that you'd expect to be. Obviously if the website chokes on your troublesome NRW then that file is corrupted.

six months later this problem has not been fixed by NIKON. Who was the idiot who thought changing the code will make costumers happy? I go this camera as a travel companion for my D600 and I am returning it as soon as get back from this trip. Cheap construction (plastic), odd commands (different from other nikon models) and I CAN'T process RAW files in Capture, Lightroom of Photoshop (even after downloading all updates).

Can you upload one of these unprocessable NRW files to http://www.dropbox.com/ and post a public download link, here?
