Just purchased Photoshop CS6, installed it, (windows 7) registered it, tried it for a bit, worked fine. Closed it, came back an hour later , opened it, and it freezes up everytime. No choice but to end it through windows task manager. Shut down and restarted computer, same thing.
Any suggestions?

Is Photoshop freezing, or the whole computer?

Did you install any third party plugins?

Have you updated all the drivers on your system?

Only Photoshop freezes. It opens to it's main page, and then does not respond to any commands.
I was wondering if the best solution would be to uninstall and then re
install to see if it fixes things. It is the only and first PS on this computer.

Could be a bad install, but my first guess would be something else is interfering with event handling. That could be a third party plugin, another application, a driver, etc.

Chris, I think you are right. I had actually down loaded the ICC profile for one of the local Costco labs and after installing it, Photoshop said this type of file could not be opened. So I uninstalled it and then deleted it. It was AFTER that that PS started freezing up. So, now what do I do?

How did you install it, and how did you uninstall it?

Also, what else changed on your system right before Photoshop started freezing up?

After downloading the ICC profile it gave it gave me the option to "install" (I think, and then gave me a list of programs from which I chose PS) After first getting the error code in PS, I closed PS, then checked program files to try uninstall ICC profile, but could not find it.
So, maybe the only thing I did was delete it instead? Anyway, nothing else was done, because from then on PS would open up but freeze on the work page.
PS. I guess you can tell I am pretty much a computer newbe, at least with Windows 7.

Chris,
Problem solved. Weird situation. I just tried opening PS again, and again it froze. When I went to Windows Task Bar to end task (yes, like always it showed PS unresponsive, but there was another PS something rather running. I clicked on that and it was a notification box from Adobe asking if I wanted to partcipate in in some kind of information sharing (something along those lines) and I clicked on that and and NOW, low and behold, the program lets me continue with everything!! The box was BEHIND the PS screen, and I never got to see it. Had I not noticed it this time around in the task manager, who know how long this would have dragged out!

Ah, so the freeze was the Product Improvement Program dialog opening behind the main app window. We'll have to investigate how that can happen.

Exactly!! Never got to see the box, since it was in the back.

Oh, and I see the ICC profile is actually installed and working as it should for my soft proofing.

Photoshop will load but then is frozen, I am having problems with lightroom saying this action cannot be completed because another program is busy. Also currently Creative Cloud is also not responding properly. Nothing has been loaded recently and all 3 have worked before with no problem.
