Hello All,
In Lightroom 3.5 RC,
I' ve noticed that the lens profile for Nikkor 35 1.4 AF-S is listed as:
NIKON AF-S NIKKOR 35 mm f/1.4G ED.
Actually this lens has NO any special low dispersion ED glass inside.
In fact the ED mark is not painted on the barrell of the lens.

Thanks and Refards,
Stefano

You are right, Stefano. Thanks for pointing this out. I'll fix it.

I guess there is no way for a customer to fix lens strings?

I have a Sigma lens (28mm) which is incorrectly recognised as a Pentax lens. I'd love to be able to correct the lens string.

With lens profiles we can "teach" LR a mapping from lens ID to profile, it would be great if the same could be done regarding the lens identification strings.

Does it make sense to post this as a feature request or is it unrealistic to expect anything along these lines?

TK, in your case, it does not sound like the lens string is wrong -- it sounds like the wrong profile is being selected. You can override that by selecting the correct (Sigma) profile, then choose "Save New Lens Profile Defaults" from the Setup menu. The profile data itself is fine; it's the automatic selection which is wrong.

This is different from Stefano's case, where the correct profile is being selected, but simply that the lens name is incorrect. In other words, the profile data itself is incorrect, and that's something I can fix.
