Photoshop: Constrain Strokes To Active Path/Selection (outline)

Sometimes, I have a really nice vector drawing that I want to turn into a sketch, by hand. I have some great brushes in Photoshop, with lots of customized settings (Size, Opacity,Transfer, Spacing, Jitter, etc.) tied to Pen Pressure.
Currently, applying a stroke to a path or selection either apply a uniform stroke, or "mimic" brush settings—but this is unsatisfactory.

Sketchbook Pro has the best rulers in the drawing application business. I would love to see Photoshop implement something similar. If I could constrain my brush strokes so that no matter "where" I moved my pen, the stroke was applied along a corresponding point along the path... equipped with all the brush customizations... I could sketch without worrying about losing the original volume, proportions, shape of my original vector (or selection area outline) AND, my strokes would have all the textural quality and variation of a hand drawn image. It's similar to what's possible now—meaning a stroke can "snap" to a guide line, or be applied to paths and selections—only the user would now have control over the quality of the stroke(s).

I've posted a comment in the forums to explain more: Photoshop Discussion Topic
