Photoshop CC 2018: Updating Smart objects

I tried to take a screenshot of the issue, but the green dot wouldn't show that it was selected once the color picker opened, so I have uploaded two photos, one taken prior to opening the color picker and one after.

As you can see, the color selected is white, but the elipse will not change color when the smart object layer is double-clicked, no matter if the white swatch is clicked, the eye dropper tool is used to select white, or the fill color is white. It stays green no matter what, and I didn't even click on green recently.

Can you please help? This is really frustrating.

By the way, I re-booted this morning. I am using Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.2

Hmm. Could you post all or part of the file you're having trouble with so we can help troubleshoot? (Use dropbox or Creative Cloud to share a URL to the file)

I am not able to reproduce with my own files.

I figured it out!!! There was a green STROKE that was wider than half the width of the smart object itself so it was only showing the stroke (green). Thank goodness! I felt like I was going crazy :)
