new group selection/expansion behaviour in layers panel very frustrating

In Photoshop 2017.0.0, I have noticed two new behaviours with groups in the layers panel which cause me a lot of frustration.

1. Clicking (or alt-clicking) on a group layer mask expands the group, which it never did before. This is very disruptive when you have a lot of layers in groups and you need to view or edit the masks of adjacent groups in quick succession.

2. When you have a group expanded and a layer within that group is selected, clicking on the arrow (hoping to to collapse the group as before) now only selects the group, and a second click is needed to collapse it.

I have searched for an option to go back to the old behaviour but can't find one. Is this a deliberate change? It seems very clumsy.

So this has been a topic I've seen the most. They are well aware of the problem, and I'm hoping that there is a patch soon, because it's very very annoying. Everyone making this same report has been merged into a single thread, which you can read here. https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop-actions-no-longer-work-with-cc-2017...

I made the exact same complaint right after CC 2017 came out, which you can read here. https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/select-backward-command-opens-groups-and-brea...

It's a real pain, but they are aware of it. It's messing with a lot of actions and scripts. We had to recode our panels to function differently which cost a good deal of man hours dealing with complaints, figuring out the issue, and then implementing the new layer creation and workflow into JavaScript. Then we had to repackage, resign, and distribute the new panels. All because of this one bug. But...like I said, I hope it is fixed soon.
