When I import photo's into a new LR folder, create the folder and then decide to cancel the import after all, LR will not show the newly created folder in its own folder structure, but the folder is stil there on OSX level

Steps to recreate:
1. Start import
2. Create new folder inside Root LR folder. (This will be done by LR showing a Finder window where you must choose the New Folder option. So the folder is created by OSX, not LR)
3. Cancel import
4. Check folder structure in LR: new folder is not there (hurray)
5. Check folder structure in OSX and, surprise, the new folder is (still) there ????!!!!

Why is LR introducing an inconsistency between its own folder structure and the mapping on the OSX folders ?

Folder management clearly is a weak spot in LR. See also my report about created unwanted sub folders

Yes, Step 2 is requested by Lightroom but executed at the OS Level. Cancelling the import dialog will not remove the folder from the OS. But, because you have cancelled the import, Lightroom has no referenced photos in the folder, ergo, it doesn't show.

You would have to do that manually via Finder.

If you wish that behavior, you can make a feature request (Idea post) to request that.
