Lightroom: Custom Import Folder Date Format

I would like to be able to add a custom import folder format, similar to how I can customize the file name on import.

Use Case:
I want to import to a folder structure that looks like this "/YYYY/YY-MM/" or perhaps "/YYYY/MM-"

Problem:
The predefined date formats are limited and do not meet my needs.

Solution(s):
A. Create a full featured "Custom" option similar to the file-name custom options.
B. Add a limited date-format field to customize the date format

Current workaround:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1077734
Edit the text file that contains the date format presets manually, which breaks every time Lightroom has a major update.

I feel like, at least option B, is not unreasonable in its scope. For instance, saving an override text file in the adobe app's user directory would mean you don't have to rewrite any of the main prefs code... just the bit of the import dialog that reads in the pre-defined dates.

Thank you for your consideration.

When LR is importing there are several options for the folder structure if the organise by date setting is used, unfortunately there are none with underscores in.

Is it possible to import from camera into LR with underscores in the folder structure i.e. yyyy_mm_dd so that it matches the structure used by canon Eos Utility?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Use TranslatedStrings.

You can also do it by editing the TranslatedStrings.txt file. http://www.lightroomforums.net/showth...

I noted that workaround with a link to the thread discussing it. I use it currently and it's an ok workaround if I only had to do it once and call it a day. Unfortunately, every time Lightroom gets an update, it replaces the TranslatedStrings.txt file again, and I have to go back and redo the edit.
