Network Error Window blocks LR usage

I am exporting from LR using a third party plugin (Friedl) and a window will pop uo saying "Network Error contacting up.zenfolio.com", which has a progress bar and a Cancel button.  However, the cancel button does nothing, and with these windows up, LR is completely unusable.  The upload still seems to be progressing, as the progress bar top left keeps moving to the right, but I can otherwise do nothing in LR.  Since the upload still seems to continue I don't want to force quit, so I am completely stuck!  And since this upload is taking hours, I'm stuck all day for sure, and into tomorrow.  Any ideas?  See the screenshot below of the error box.  Thanks!

This may not be the solution you are looking for, but...

I have all sorts of problems with Lightroom and Photoshop taking hours or days to complete certain operations. I have created two accounts on my Mac, and I just log into the other one to complete the long operations.

There are some issues with this:
  • You have to configure two installations of Lightroom to be "the same"
  • You can't use the same catalog in both logins at the same time. (But you can export part of your catalog and then reimport it when you are done).
  • It works much more easily if you keep your photos and catalogs on an external disk, and you set "Ignore Permissions" on that disk. Otherwise, you'll have to figure out account permissions on the Macintosh.
  • Keep Activity Monitor open in your main account, and you can easily check if Lightroom in the secondary account is still busy
I really like this solution when I am running Photoshop droplets on large sets of files. When Photoshop is running a droplet, it is constantly opening and closing windows that only serve to get in the way of anything else you are trying to do. Putting them in another account solves that problem.

Jonathan,

I think you should contact Friedl about this (see his Web site). He won't see your post on this forum.
