Lightroom Classic: Negative numbers for image count in folder

Just came across this in the 2020-06-16 9.3 release.  When adding an image to a folder, the image count in the folder list was zero while there was an image in the folder.  When I moved that image out of the folder, the image count went to -1.

Sequence of events that this happened to me with:

  1. Find a random folder and select it.
  2. Right click and 'create folder inside ' - leave the 'include selected images' checked
  3. (First bug / UI flaw) - The folder list jumps back to the top.  If you have a long list of folders this can be infuriating.  It also doesn't leave the folder expanded and visible, another annoyance.
  4. Expanded the folder and had a count of zero, but the image was there in the grid view
  5. Moved it back to the parent folder and the count went to -1

I haven't been able to duplicate this (other than #3 - the jumping back to the top and not expanding the folder) sadly, but maybe an investigation might find something.  I'll update if I can reproduce.

I can't duplicate this behavior.  It works correctly for me.  Lr9.3 macOS 10.15.5

I'm not sure what circumstances that this happened under, or what's different. I had some issues with slow imports with 9.3 and a case I had to force quit, so maybe it was some sort of issue related to that.  I'll see if I can figure out how to replicate and update if I can. :(

Does the catalog in the same state now? (It displays the negative number.)
If that's the case, I can send you an e-mail off list. We may need to investigate your catalog.

Thanks,
Sunil

No, I removed the folder and moved the images around and things acted properly.  I'll keep a look out if it happens again though.  I guess I can mark this as unreproducable from my end :(
