nef files not showing xmp adjustments

For the first time this year, I started outsourcing my editing.  I shoot with a Nikon (NEF), and my second shooter uses a Canon (CR2).  When the editing company sends me back the XMP files containing the adjustments, none of the NEF files show their adjustments, but the CR2 files do.  I have shared my screen with the editing company and they have no clue what the problem is as well as had Adobe connect to my iMac.  The first time I talked to Adobe they told me my OSX was too old and that was why I wasn't seeing the updates.  So I lugged my big iMac into a place with good internet (I don't have internet available where I live), and updated everything I possibly could have.  Still nothing.  So I had Adobe connect to my computer again and I had to leave to shoot a wedding tonight while they were still working on it.  I just came back and it looks as though they weren't able to figure it out either.

Has anyone had this happen?  Can anyone help me?  This is the worst possible time for this to happen as I am drowning in wedding photos to edit.

Hi Jessica,

If possible can you share one or two sample images on which the issue happening. We will try to reproduce inhouse. Also if you have photoshop installed, let me know you see the same behavior with photoshop also?

Thanks,
Ganesh

I have tried opening in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Bridge and I can't see them.  BUT, when I have sent an image to friends to try with the XMPs they can all see the adjustments.  I will send over a sample in another reply.
