Photoshop: Need help with web logo

Ok so a friend had asked to make a web logo for and the they want is no background in the picture there is a star and some letters and that all he wants on the his logo so when they put it on the website all there is is a star and letter as if the background is transparent idk if the picture has any trademarks in it but I really want to figure this out. And please forgive my grammar and for me asking this question this my first time using photoshop. Thank you

First of all, let me understand this: did your friend lift this image from a Google image search and now wants to remove the background and use it for himself?

If thats the case, that's theft. Intellectual Property theft. Someone else paid to have this done, so you stealing it is a really bad idea.

Then, the "logo" needs to represent the type of business that this friend is looking to promote. It takes a while to develop the right logo for a company usually. Your friend should enlist a professional graphic designer to design a logo appropriate with their business.

Ok thank you for the reply. So when I stared off it was just the SoCal star no color or filters so just that star would get me trouble just for understandingI mean the project has ended I'm not doing this anymore I'm not really up to the task
