This problem has started in the last month.

Photoshop is passing on the disk error from the OS.
That means that your disk has a problem.

Make sure you have backed up all the data on that drive, and try repairing it using Disk Utility.

Hi Chris

I've run DiskUtility on all the disks and errors were present which DiskUtility flagged up and repaired successfully. Unfortunately the error keeps occurring and now more frequently than before. I can't even do one small command without it crashing.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Well, Photoshop is just passing along the error it got from the OS. So there is still something wrong with your scratch disk that is causing disk errors. Change disks to try and isolate which disk is causing the errors - and make sure you have backups, and maybe go ahead and order a spare drive to replace that disk.

I deleted Photoshop again and re-installed it and so far its been behaving itself. I haven't allocated any other scratch disks to the preferences other than what its defaults are.
Thanks for your time. I'll look into replacing the hard drive if it starts happening again

Cheers Chris
