Lightroom Classic: My vote for a V9.3 bug fix release ONLY

V9.1 and more so with V9.2 introduced a huge number of bugs. Fortunately none of them seem to corrupt images or result in incorrect editing but they are sure a pain to deal with. Just read the threads on this forum over the past couple of months. (Sure some are user error but not many.)

So I'd like Adobe to deliver a V9.3 that has NO enhancements, just address bugs.

Sure there are feature enhancements that I'd like but leave them for V10 please.

A bug fix only release would be 9.2.1, not 9.3. Who knows...

The version number is irrelevant. The Op's point is to put out a stable version (addressing the most bugs) before adding new features. Spending dev time adding new features seems to just add more bugs. We're never getting a true "release" version only beta versions.

I aggree, I see it with ON1 where new features seem to be more important than fixing bugs and annoying things. As a result the feel of and working with the program keep going worse with each update.

I think a few month period of ONLY fixing bugs would be great.  The bean counters (marketing, management) probably wouldn't go for it though.  As much as I like new features I prefer a near bug free program better.  Unfortunately, my Apple OS and Microsoft Office aren't any better.

The only problem we've had with macOS Catalina was with Lightroom Classic v9.  The other 90-100 apps on my Mac work just fine.  An Adobe tech explained how to roll back to v 8.4.1 and all is well (except for Macintosh HD showing up three times instead on once).  I decided not to upgrade to 9.1 or 9.2 since so many problems have been reported.

After Windows 10 pro came out they added an option to "Defer new feature updates" to the OS. This would be great to have for the automatic updates of LR. Having a near bug free (at least serious bugs) version would allow us to "hold" the current version and not force an update to a future buggy version until we were ready. The constant introduction of new bugs with every version update is becoming very tiring.

I still remember the days of stepping up to a GUI operating system with my Commodore Amiga.  It was a better overall setup than many versions of MS Win-doze or MacOS that followed.  Despite sort of being a multitasking operating system Windows 10 runs awful slow with the hardware assets available to it.  Considering I learned to use $A9 $01 and 2 bytes of memory to start a program with on my 3,583 bytes system of years back, I am not impressed by Windows, Adobe, or anyone putting out most of the software of any sort now.  :(

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled A Bug Fix Release please.

In my former life with IBM, periodically we would deliver a "bug fix" release with no enhancements. I can tell you that our customers appreciated it. Judging by the large number of reported bugs in the 9.n releases, appearing (from this forum) to increase with each release, I think it is time for Lightroom to do the same. Lightroom needs to be stabilized before moving on to 10.

I'm referring to true defects and not performance issues.
