My imported brushes disappear after closing Photoshop. Not every time. Sometimes they are there for weeks and other times a couple days. Please help me fix this, the amount of time to install each brush is insane.

Did not have this problem prior to Photoshop 2020.

I have the same problem, it is strange. I have not found an answer but a work around. I created an 'Action' that loads the brushes I use on a regular basis and that is pretty straight forward and does not take too much time. Think of it as a detour, you'll get to where you want to. I'll keep looking myself. Good Luck!

Thank you. I will try that. And yeah, I've been all over the internet, sometimes for hours, reading forums and tips and even on Adobe's support/help page. Nothing.

Not very clever to post this type of remark without pointing out the version of the BONE, the version of software....

And the simplest, create one or two groups in which you unite the most used paintbrushes, then, simply save these groups sour the form of file .abr and you will have only to recharge these some files!

Sorry. I have never used a community forum before and didn't know there was other information to be included.  I will edit.

Edit-I have made and saved groups. They are no longer there when this happens.

And copying the abr-files into the correct Brushes-Folder should allow to load them from the Brushes Panel’s pop-up menu if it should get reset.

Some general all-purpose trouble-shooting may be in order (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been backed up)
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/basic-trouble-shooting-steps.html
but the infrequent occurrence does not seem to hint at one particular issue ...

Are other presets also affected (Patterns, Styles, ...)?

Ok, then try to make of files .abr smaller to see if it is a problem of size of file!

i dot it before, all is ok until 2go... I think it was a special brush, but no, else if I change the order of loading same problem... When size is near 2go, when you close photoshop you see it "think" (slow very slow closing) and when you come back..no more brush except PHOTOSHOP standard brush

It is therefore a limitation software, it is simply necessary to divide paintbrushes in several files in PS and to export file by file. personally I have several files of paintbrushes and my file .abr do not exceed 50 Mb and everything goes well... And also if you like to decelerate PS, the best manner of making it it is to have thousands of charged paintbrushes at the same time in PS... Especially I do not know how they can easily choose them if they have thousands of it !!!!

Vicki, If you are using your PC to store your brushes, that is fine, no problem. A lot of PS 'settings' are buried on the hard drive somewhere and I am too lazy to hunt what I am looking for down, in this case brushes. Other users may think I am stupid in suggesting that you create a subdirectory on your PC's hard drive, somewhere where you know where it is (C:/PS/Brushes) and store downloaded or created brushes there.

If one reads this forum, there are many problems that I never have come across, but I have issues that pop-up from time to time for no reason and this is a good place to get an answer, but I still have some that are not answered.

I have given up on providing my settings to solve my brush problem, the same one you have. When I close PS my brushes go away and unless I have saved one that I create, it is gone. So, I have the original file, saved on the hard drive and I have save the brush in a group on my hard drive (and cloud) too. Every time I open PS I use an action to 'reload' the brush groups before I play (not work).

Good luck!
