At the moment it is not possible to sort photos by creation date OR last edit-creation date. For example when you create an HDR out of three photos at 9:00 and you have additional photos taken at 9:05 the HDR will be sorted behind the 9:05 photos. What is actually wrong. This is caused by lightrooms sorting after the „wrong creation date“ There are three fields for this, so it must be possible to select after wich of them the sorting should be done.

I see that you've already added your me-too to the existing feature request: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom-sort-enhancements

But you've raised a separate issue with sorting of merged photos.  Photo Merge should produce a .dng whose metadata capture time is the same as the last selected photo in the merge, and doing View > Sort > Capture Time should then sort the .dng immediately after that last photo.  For some reason, this isn't happening with you.

To troubleshoot this:

1. Do View > View Options and configure Compact Cell Extras as:

2. Do View > Grid Style > View Compact Cells.

3. Make sure the toolbar is showing at the bottom of Library grid view by doing View > Show Toolbar.

4. Post a full-resolution screenshot of Library grid view, including the original photos, the merged photo, and the intervening photos, including the toolbar at the bottom showing the current Sort option.  It should look approximately like the screenshot below.

With this information, we can figure out whether there's a bug and how to workaround it.

I now was able to reproduce it:
The sorting issues are only when I imported the pictures with the camera-connection-kit on my ipad and then synced them to Lightroom. When I import the pictures directly on my notebook I have no issues. Somehow the import in Lightroom mobile (iOS) or even the import to the ipad seems to cause the issues.
