I have recently installed photoshop CS6 on my Gateway desktop with Windows 8 and an Acer LED monitor. I seem to have a problem with a monitor profile error message that keeps appearing. I have changed it to the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile like many sites have told me to and I still get the message, not to mention that the checkerboard patter flashes in the background when I use any tool. This makes it very hard to work in the program.

The flicker is probably the Windows 8 bug -- update your video card drivers from the GPU maker's website, or set the Photoshop GPU mode to "Basic".

The monitor profile error message probably means what it says, and means that you haven't actually changed your display profile (or only changed one of them - Photoshop does read the profile for all displays).
