Lightroom 5: Mistaken move of catalog to subordinate folder 10 months ago: Best way to fix this?

LR5 LOCATION OF FILES as of 6-21-15

Somehow in August, 2014, I unknowingly moved the LR5 SD Primary Catalog.lrcat from the folder called LR5 SD Primary Catalog to a new folder within that folder called 2014-08-11-0000. So, a new set of Preview files were created (e.g., LR5 SD Primary Catalog Previews.lrdata, created 08-12-2014, present size: 5.83 GB).

The original Preview file was created 10-20-2011, and is 19.05 GB.

I plan to move the current .lrcat file up a level to the folder which was the original location, since based on its size (1.24 GB) and the progressively growing sizes of the backups (6/2014: 1.11 GB, 3/15 1.2GB, 6/15 1.23 GB), it appears that it is complete. I think this will work.

First question: should I do anything with the .lrdata files: the one that’s in the original location (LR5 SD Primary Catalog) is 19.05 GB, and the one that’s in the subordinate folder (2014-08-11 0000) is 5.83 GB?

In other words, is there a way to merge the two .lrdata files, or should I just use the older one, and assume that it will create previews as they are needed?

Additional questions: What might have caused this? Is there anything else I should be concerned about? Should I move the Lightroom Settings folder up a level (since it's more current)?
