Photoshop: Missing Fonts dialog box on file open - can't dismiss

Users are experiencing a Missing Fonts dialog box that cannot be dismissed. They end up having to force quit Photoshop and try opening the file again. We've disabled TypeKit and use our own font management (Extensis Universal Type Client/Server) which is up to date. This is starting to negatively impact our art director's productivity.
Any suggestions as to what else to check to resolve this issue?
FYI: Photoshop CC 2018 (19.1.0)

What OS/version are you running Photoshop on?

When the dialog box is up, are you getting a spinning cursor?

For troubleshooting purposes, if you eliminate the Extensis plug-in, does work correctly?

Also, how many fonts do you have on your machine?  Have you been adding and subtracting a lot of fonts lately?  When was the last time you cleared your font cache?

I'm happy to help you with this issue and that info would really help.

MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3. Will try clearing font caches and removing plug-in next.
