My Photoshop Elements 13 is missing a very important font that I use for my art. It's grayed out on the font list and in parentheses. How do I retrieve it?

Howdy Joanie,

You'll have to get the font from whatever source you obtained it originally.  If you don't recall, you can also search online.  If the font is a Typekit font, you can simply go to Typekit and download it again.

Thanks,
David

I went to Typekit but they want $25 for it. The font was original to the program.

Howdy Joanie,

What font is it?  Do you no longer have a CC subscription?  Which app was it included with?

Thanks,
David

Photoshop Elements 13.  The font is News Gothic MT Bold. It's on the list but grayed out.

Howdy Joanie,

PSE13 is kind of old -- three and a half years -- which isn't long for humans, but it is for software.  It could be that a font included then is no longer included now.  And, since I actually work on Photoshop, I can't speak to what might have been bundled with PSE in the past.

The bottom line though would be to either pay the $25 or just replacing the font with something else.  You could use a (free) service like WhatTheFont.com to find an alternative that looks similar.

Hope that helps,
David

Because PSE uses any installed font in your system it seems the font file became compromised in some way.
Just google the name of your font and several options will be shown to download that specific font.
I just checked this site and its font seems to work well with PSE13:
