I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong here: I seem to be only able to compare images left-to-right. I know that top-to-bottom and split modes exist, but I can't seem to get access to them. Trying to switch the compare mode with '\' does nothing, and there's no menu beside the compare function to allow me to switch modes. I've made sure that "View Modes" is enabled, but there's no dropdown to switch modes. All I see is a basic "Select/Candidate" left right view and no option to change it. What am I doing wrong here!?

I've attached an image showing what the interface looks like for me. This is Lightroom 5.6 on Windows 8 64-bit.

There is only left-right in X|Y Library Compare mode.

You're probably thinking of the Y|Y Before/After Top-Bottom, Left-Right Side-by-Side & Split modes of difference edit stages of the same image in Develop.

Ahh yes -- this is likely the source of my confusion. How do I bring up these edit stage comparisons in the develop module? I can't seem to find anything in the menus, and I don't have a toolbar along the bottom to select them from...
